Welcome to TalkWide ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a safe, transparent environment for global language learners. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we handle it, and your rights regarding your personal data.

1. Information We Collect

To provide our language exchange services and match you with compatible native speakers, we collect the following categories of information:

A. Information You Provide Directly

• Account Details: Email address, display name, username, age, and gender.
• Language Profile: Native language, language(s) you are learning, proficiency levels, and learning goals.
• Profile Media: Profile photos, bio descriptions, interest tags, and hobbies you choose to publish.
• Messages: Text messages, voice notes, and photos sent in 1-on-1 chat threads.

B. Device & Permissions Data

• Microphone Permission: Used exclusively to enable 1-on-1 audio calls and voice note recordings. We do not record or store your live voice calls.
• Location Data (Optional): With your permission, we process approximate city/region or coordinates solely to calculate distance to potential language partners in the Discovery Feed. You can disable location sharing at any time.
• Notifications: Push notification tokens to alert you of incoming calls, friend requests, and new messages.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To match you with language partners based on mutual native and target languages.
• To enable real-time chat, instant translation, and 1-on-1 voice calling.
• To protect community safety, prevent spam, investigate reports, and block abusive users.
• To send critical transactional notifications (such as password reset codes).

3. 1-on-1 Voice Call Privacy

TalkWide enables 1-on-1 voice practice directly between connected partners. Voice streams are encrypted in transit. We do not record, listen to, transcribe, or store your live audio calls on our servers.

4. In-Chat Instant Translation

When you tap to translate a message, text is processed securely on your device or through secure endpoints solely to provide the immediate translation. Your private messages are not used to train public language models.

5. Data Security

All data transmitted between the TalkWide app and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard HTTPS/TLS encryption. Passwords are securely hashed and stored with strong cryptographic salts.

6. Data Retention & Account Deletion (Google Play Compliance)

We retain your data only while your account is active. You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time:

• In-App Deletion: Open the TalkWide app → Go to Settings → Tap Privacy & Security → Tap Delete Account. Your account, profile, photos, and messages will be permanently purged immediately.
• Manual Request: You can also email us at talkwide.app@gmail.com with the subject "Delete My Account", and we will process your deletion within 48 hours.
